CALF ROPING RULES & REGULATIONS
- Contestants must compete in the division based on their age on contest day. Calf Roping Contest divisions are listed below.
- Each contestant will receive 2 attempts per round unless otherwise stated.
- Contestants must remain behind the marked roping line until rope is released.
- Rope must fully catch the dummy horns/head area to count as a legal catch.
- Missed attempts or illegal catches will receive no time for that attempt.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct toward judges, volunteers, or contestants will result in disqualification.
- Judges’ decisions are final.
- Event coordinators reserve the right to combine divisions or adjust format based on entry numbers.
- Awards: Prizes will be given in all divisions that fill.
- The committee retains the right to alter these rules at any time.
Team Roping Contest
Any age combinations may enter a team of 2 to compete! Open to all ages!
Round One: $10 a man, $20 per team
After Round One: buy-ins are $5 a man, $10 a team, per run
- Must enter before the end of the first round
- Re-enter as many times as you want
- 3 head progressive after round 1
- Roping on foot
- Cow dummy will come out of a chute
- Head and Heel the cow
- One loop per header and one loop per heeler per run
- The fastest team will receive Header and Heeler Champion buckles. Further prizes to be announced.

October 31st, 2026
Registration: 8:00 AM
Contest Begins: 1:00 PM
Awards: Tentatively set for 2:00 PM
Cowpokes Contest
AGES 4-12
Divisions are as follows:
- 6 & Under
- 7-9 Years Old
- 10-12 Years Old
All divisions will receive a High Point Individual Champion Buckle and Rosette. Further prizes are to be announced.
Trailblazers Contest
MIDDLE SCHOOL: 6th-8th GRADE
High Point Individual will receive a Champion buckle. Further prizes to be announced.
Wrangler Contest
HIGH SCHOOL: 9th-12th GRADE
High Point Individual will receive a Champion buckle. Further prizes to be announced.
Common Questions
Do I need experience?
No! You do not need any experience to compete in our contest. This experience is designed for all ages and experience level. Whether you are a seasoned pro or have never handled livestock, this is an opportunity for you to grown, learn, and network with those in the beef cattle industry!
What do I need to bring to the contest?
Please bring your own rope and a roping glove if preferred.
How can I prepare for the contest?
Practice, practice, practice! Your local Tractor Supply, Murdochs, or feed store will have a rope! We have study resources posted for you to review on our Classroom page. Visit our YouTube channel on the page to view instructional videos and more!
How will the contest be judged?
This is a "timed format" contest.
- Fastest successful catch wins.
- Time starts when contestant begins movement.
- Time stops when legal catch is completed.
